A Conversation With Leslie Cheung
Translated by Carol
"Shooting Happy Together was the most unpleasant experience, both mentally and physically," says Leslie Cheung.
Re: Shooting Happy Together
"It was dreadful. Shooting Wong Kar Wai's movies has always been harsh and difficult. I ate something bad there [Argentina]. I was very sick. I wanted to go home so badly. I didn't want to stay there, I was very tired and homesick. I don't remember much from shooting this movie. Basically shooting Wong Kar Wai's movies has always been based on what he wants to present to the audience. Anyway, I felt both mentally and physically uncomfortable. I was so far away from home [Hong Kong]. It was autumn, and I didn't want to stay there to shoot the movie anymore. I just wanted to go home and rest. We hadn't filmed a single scene in four weeks. I stayed there for two months straight."
Re: Becoming A Director
"I also want to be a director. But it doesn't have to be an award-winning film. That is, my work doesn't have to compete in the Berlin Film Festival, Venice, or even Hollywood. If you think this way, then you are making a mistake by limiting yourself. "
P.S. Leslie Cheung already has his first "baby," "From Ashes to Ashes." He finally made his dream come true!
